At Cordeel Belgium, we translate this strategy into our day-to-day construction activities. We are constantly looking for ways to build more efficiently, use materials responsibly and reduce energy consumption and emissions in all our projects.
We combine the craftsmanship and experience of our staff with new technologies and the expertise available within the Cordeel Group. Collaboration with clients and construction partners also plays a crucial role in integrating sustainability from the very earliest stages of a project.
We firmly believe in making a positive contribution to a more sustainable future for each and every one of us. How? By implementing numerous small and large innovations aimed at reducing the impact of our activities on the environment. This includes not only offering sustainable and circular construction solutions and energy applications to our clients but also starting with ourselves by making our own company site in Temse more sustainable and electrifying our construction sites.
In 2012, Cordeel Belgium took the first steps by obtaining the ISO 14001 management system. A decade later, we actively commit ourselves to reduce CO2 emissions in our activities. The CO2 Performance Ladder provides us with the perfect benchmark to achieve this in practice. We endorse the UN Sustainable Development Goals to translate sustainability into action.
We are focusing our efforts on the areas where we, as a construction group, can make a difference. This means, amongst other things, reducing our own emissions, using more renewable energy and committing to the electrification of our operations.
But our greatest challenge lies further down the value chain. The materials we use account for a significant proportion of the climate impact of buildings. That is why we are working on solutions that reduce material-related CO₂ emissions: from low-carbon concrete, renovation and reuse to circular and bio-based building materials.
At the same time, we are looking beyond CO₂ alone. We are exploring how, through measures such as soil remediation, land regeneration, energy storage and new materials, we can contribute to a built environment that uses energy, raw materials and nature ever more intelligently.
