New energy-neutral building for Antwerp's operational city services

On the Havanasite in the north of Antwerp, a new energy-neutral building will soon arise. It will serve as the main base for most of the operational services of the city of Antwerp. The realization of this new building has been awarded to Team 't Noord, consisting of Cordeel Belgium, Van Roey, Binst architects, and AAVO architects.

Social housing site 'Strijdros' officially inaugurated

In Evere, today the Brusselse Gewestelijke Huisvestingsmaatschappij (BGHM) and Comensia inaugurated 130 new social housing units. The Strijdros (Destrier) project, realized by Cordeel Belgium, not only comprises 130 social housing units but also a high-quality communal facility, featuring new premises for the Maison Coopérative Destrier.

Meiboom celebration Hotel Duo

Symbolic moment today at the Hotel Duo (Holiday Inn and Adagio) construction site in Diegem. The project has reached its highest point, and approximately 130 employees from Cordeel, developer Candor, Binst Architects, engineering firm Macobo-Stabo, and Imtech gathered for the meiboom (maypole) celebration. It was the perfect opportunity to thank everyone for their hard work with some food and drinks.

INEOS assigned Cordeel to build the new administrative campus of INEOS Project One

INEOS Olefins Belgium has assigned Cordeel as the main contractor for the realization of its new administrative campus. The campus is included in the scope of Project One and will be built at the INEOS Project One site in Lillo.

Construction started at Brinktoren

On Thursday, March 23, the official start of the construction works for Brinktoren, a 90-meter high tower in Overhoeks, Amsterdam, was celebrated. For the occasion, the construction site was turned into a beach tent, where the future owners, the alderman, and the construction team unveiled portraits that will soon be hidden forever.

Construction of new Safran Aircraft Engine Services maintenance facility officially launched

On Tuesday 28 February, the first pillars of a new maintenance facility in the North Zone of Brussels Airport were placed in Steenokkerzeel. Based on a design by Archipelago Architects, Cordeel is building a maintenance facility there for Safran Aircraft Engine Services Brussels, which will maintain aircraft engines there from 2024. The new ultra-modern building fits in with Brussels Airport's ambition to offer its customers the most complete range of aviation services, as well as its expertise in the real estate field and confirms its commitment to sustainable development. C-concrete signs first Flemish Concrete Agreement

Worldwide, construction is mainly done with concrete. It therefore accounts for a significant proportion of total CO2 emissions. For instance, the production of cement alone accounts for as much as 7% of global emissions. However, concrete is 100% recyclable if it is released in a sufficiently pure form during demolition. The production of green and circular concrete is on the rise, but an acceleration is needed. With the Flemish Concrete Agreement, the industry wants to remove administrative and technical obstacles to realise this ambition.

Cordeel starts building works on Campus Drie Eiken in Wilrijk

On Monday 12 December 2022, Cordeel will start working on Campus Drie Eiken in Wilrijk, home to 10000 students, researchers and staff. The UAntwerpen campus will be extended with 226 student housing units, a new restaurant and a sports hall. Construction will take two years.

Start construction FacThory

On Friday 21 October, the foundation stone of FacThory, a multifunctional building for smart manufacturing companies, was laid at Thor Park in Genk. Thor Park, LRM (Limburgse Reconversie Maatschappij), stad Genk and KU Leuven jointly laid the foundation stone, which was replaced by a 3D-printed version for the occasion.

Zeebrugge Green Logistics commissioned

Zeebrugge Green Logistics, formerly better known as Lingang*, was commissioned on Friday 30 September 2022. The official opening took place on 12 October. This sustainable, state-of-the-art logistics site of over 73,000 m² in the port of Zeebrugge comprises 10 warehouses with 10 loading docks each, a container yard, an office building and spacious parking.

New Living Tomorrow innovation campus has reached its highest point

The construction of the new Living Tomorrow innovation campus in Vilvoorde is entering the next phase: the top (12th) floor is finished, bringing the impressive tower to its maximum height of 49 metres. ‘Vertical construction, with the smallest possible footprint on the ground and as much space for greenery as possible, is the way we will (have to) go in the future,’ Frank Beliën, founder and chairman of the Living Tomorrow Group, tells us.

Construction of 'The Ensemble' in Amsterdam gets underway

On Karspeldreef, located in the new Amstel III urban district, Cordeel has started construction work on 'The Ensemble', a complex consisting of 592 rental homes, 20,000 m² of offices and underground parking for 2,350 bicycles, 120 scooters and 239 cars. In addition, a health centre and talent house for young people as well as some commercial spaces will house there.

Multifunctional sports complex Oudsbergen awarded to Team Cordeel

Oudsbergen has presented the plans for the new multifunctional sports complex in the municipality of Opglabbeek. The new sports hall will be twice as large as the previous one. In addition, the sustainable building will also have room for dancing, popular sports and soccer. Sport Flanders supports the project with a 1 million euro subsidy. The project was won by Cordeel Zetel Hoeselt together with Slangen and Koenis, VK engineering & architects, Ney & Partners WOW and Ontwerpatelier Peter Jennes..

'MQ-9B' Complex officially presented

This morning, Minister of Defense, Ludivine Dedonder, unveiled the design for the 'MQ-9B' Complex, a new maintenance and operations facility to support the capacity MALE (Medium Altitude Long Endurance) UAVs at the Florennes military base.

Future-proof rfb technology boasts economical, ecological and safety advantages

C-energy, part of Cordeel Group, has signed a licensing and R&D agreement with the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) for the commercialisation, production and optimisation of Vanadium Redox Flow batteries (VRFB). C-energy wants to offer a complementary battery technology, aimed at economical, ecological and safe long-term energy storage.

Living Tomorrow site opened for Open Wervendag

It was a big day yesterday at the Cordeel site of Living Tomorrow in Vilvoorde. During Open Wervendag, Flemish Minister for Mobility and Public Works Lydia Peeters, Director-General of the Flemish Confederation of Construction Marc Dillen and Mayor of Vilvoorde Hans Bonte visited the site of the future together with Frank Beliën, founder of Living Tomorrow, under a bright sunshine.

Vaccinopolis officially opened

On Friday, March 25, 2022 Vaccinopolis was officially opened at Campus Drie Eiken of the University of Antwerp in Wilrijk. In this unique vaccine research centre, vaccines against all kinds of pathogens will be tested, which can further accelerate the fight against new and existing diseases.

On Thursday 10 March, Cordeel was awarded at the Belgian Construction Awards 2021. In the category BIM Industrial Tertiary & Residential Project, the office building Networks NØR, built by Banimmo, won the first prize.

LANTIS, as Client for the Oosterweel link, and the temporary partnership Tijdelijke Maatschap RechterOever COmpleet, abbreviated to TM ROCO, officially signed the contract for the partial project ‘Right Bank of Oosterweel link’. This project was awarded to TM ROCO on 5 January 2021.

Cordeel develops Ambior site for Soprema

Cordeel is currently building a sustainable, high-tech insulation factory and a central distribution centre in Tongeren (Belgium). Soprema, renowned manufacturer of high-quality solutions for waterproofing and insulation, has commissioned the project and will occupy a site of 12 hectares in the expansion zone of the Tongeren Oost regional industrial park. The park is currently being developed by Cordeel.

Inauguration of new UZ Leuven University Hospital Centre for Women, Children and Fertility New hospital building proudly unveiled

New hospital building proudly unveiled. The brand new hospital building for UZ Leuven on the Gasthuisberg campus was officially inaugurated on 3 May 2019. Cordeel was responsible for the structural work as well as the finishing for phase IVb 1 and phase 2. Women and children’s facilities have relocated to this site.

On 23 April, the first foundation pile was driven into the ground at Cordeel’s building site in the presence of Philippe Muyters, the Flemish Minister for Work, Economics and Innovation.

Cordeel starts renovation of ‘Residentiewijk’

A foundation ceremony on Tuesday, 30 April marked the official kick-off of renovation works to the iconic residential area on the Boeretang in Mol. The 323 housing units in the modernist 1950s neighbourhood are to be thoroughly refurbished.

Foundation stone laid for De Meermin leisure complex in Waasmunster

An official ceremony on 23 September 2018 launched the construction of the new De Meermin leisure complex on Roosenberglaan in Waasmunster. On Sunday afternoon, representatives from all the municipal services and advisory councils involved in the project and executive members of the municipality were invited to build the first symbolic wall on the site. Architect Mauro Poponcini and the Mayor of Waasmunster, Michel Du Tré, unveiled a memorial stone together.

Annual Construction Day Vita Den Uyt
