Official foundation stone ceremony marks new milestone for RZ Tienen
The foundation stone ceremony represents a symbolic milestone in the development of the project and brings together construction partners, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and local stakeholders around a shared ambition: creating a modern, sustainable, and patient-centred hospital campus for the Tienen region.
Official ceremony with distinguished guests
The festivities started at 2:30 p.m. with an official ceremony and the symbolic laying of the foundation stone. Several distinguished speakers addressed the audience during the programme, including Nancy Vansteenkiste, CEO of RZ Heilig Hart Tienen, Jonathan Holslag, Mayor of the City of Tienen, and Frank Vandenbroucke, Minister of Public Health.
The commemorative plaque marking the foundation stone ceremony was also officially unveiled. The event concluded with a reception where attendees celebrated this important milestone together.
Building the healthcare of tomorrow together
For Cordeel Belgium, this project means more than simply constructing a new hospital building. It is an investment in the future of healthcare, where innovation, sustainability, and quality are key priorities.
Together with Vanderstraeten, we form the construction consortium responsible for delivering this new healthcare campus. In addition, we can rely on the strength of Cordeel Group, where various areas of expertise complement and reinforce one another.
Kristien Olaerts, CCO of Cordeel Belgium: "The new healthcare campus of RZ Tienen will be a place where healthcare, wellbeing, and community come together, with a strong focus on sustainability, accessibility, and the wellbeing of patients, visitors, and employees. We are therefore proud, as Cordeel Belgium, to be building this future-oriented project together with Vanderstraeten. A key strength lies in the power of Cordeel Group, which allows us to combine the expertise of our various companies. All prefabricated concrete elements are produced by C-concrete, our in-house precast division within the group. This integrated approach gives us maximum control over quality, planning, and execution, and helps lay the foundation for a hospital that is ready for the healthcare challenges of tomorrow."
Proud of our contribution
The foundation stone ceremony marks the beginning of a new phase in the project and highlights the strong collaboration between the client, designers, construction partners, and all involved stakeholders.
At Cordeel Belgium, we are particularly proud to contribute, together with Vanderstraeten, to the realization of this forward-looking healthcare campus, and we look forward to the continued development of this remarkable project.
