The project has reached its highest point, and approximately 130 employees from Cordeel, developer Candor, Binst Architects, engineering firm Macobo-Stabo, and Imtech gathered for the meiboom (maypole) celebration. Based on a design by Archipelago Architects, Cordeel is building a maintenance facility there for Safran Aircraft Engine Services Brussels, which will maintain aircraft engines there from 2024. It therefore accounts for a significant proportion of total CO2 emissions. For instance, the production of cement alone accounts for as much as 7% of global emissions. However, concrete is 100% recyclable if it is released in a sufficiently pure form during demolition. The production of green and circular concrete is on the rise, but an acceleration is needed.
